Jung und Jung

Jung und Jung is a literary publisher based in Austria. Founded in 2000 by Jochen Jung, it has been in the ownership of Daniel Kampa since 2022, since when it has worked in close cooperation with the publishers Kampa (Zurich), Atlantis (Zurich) and Schöffling (Frankfurt). Its central focus is on contemporary German-language authors who are characterised by the marked independence of their linguistic, intellectual and artistic approach. Not only do their books give Jung und Jung its high profile, but many of them have entered the pantheon of contemporary German-language literature and found strong favour amongst both readers and critics. Some of Germany’s and Switzerland’s most outstanding writers have found their publishing home either permanently or temporarily at Jung und Jung: Dagmar Leupold, Ludwig Fels, Ulrich Koch, Lorenz Langenegger, Sherko Fatah, Melinda Nadj Abonji, Susanne Röckel, Thomas Kunst, Alida Bremer, Ursula Krechel, and many others too.
As an Austrian publisher Jung und Jung is of course keen to cultivate and foster Austrian literature. Many of Austria’s most distinctive writers – from Peter Handke and H.C. Artmann to Florjan Lipuš, from Gert Jonke and Günter Brus to Ernst Herbeck – figure in the Jung und Jung assortment, alongside some of its current most outstanding representatives such as Eva Schmidt, Xaver Bayer, Daniel Wisser, Erwin Einzinger, Peter Waterhouse, Olga Flor, Angelika Reitzer, Richard Obermayr and many others. Jung und Jung’s zest for new discoveries is not restricted to the German-speaking countries or to the contemporary world, and its assortment includes translations of works by Adonis, Daniel Defoe, Nathaniel Hawthorne, Lafcadio Hearn, Peer Hultberg, Gabriel Josipovici, Herman Melville, Thomas Pynchon, Robert Louis Stevenson, Henry David Thoreau and William Butler Yeats.
